Having sexual intercourse can be very pleasurable for most people and some prefer not to have it entirely. This is entirely up to an individuals preference and they have the choice to decide whether to have it or not. Not having sex involuntarily may have negative side effects on your mental health. Even when you’re in a relationship and you voluntarily choose to not have sexual intercourse, it may cause you to feel insecure or anxious. This is because thought like “am I not good enough for sex?” or, “does nobody want me?” might pop into your head. You could always seek professional help in trying to figure out the issue. In contrast, let’s get into the topic of what happens if you have too much sex.

According to a sexual health expert, Yvonne K. Fulbright, people who are sexually active take fewer sick days. This is because when you are sexually active, the immune system in your body will produce higher levels of what is meant to protect you against germs, viruses and other intruders.

So when you have sexual intercourse around two to three times a week, it is most likely that a certain antibody will increase in your immune system compared to those who have sex less often. Although, despite your immune system maintaining its strength, You should still keep up with regular daily activities to keep you healthy like eating right or getting enough sleep. Also, don’t forget to take precautions and use protection!

Con: Tense Muscles

It is quite common for people to experience muscle pain during or after sexual intercourse. This might mean that you just started having sex regularly again after a while or you start to have sex more regularly than usual. This is because your body might not be used to the strain of sex. It’s like just starting a workout routine and your body has not gotten used to it yet. 

Even though sex seems like it’s nothing, it strains your muscles a lot without you even realizing because you’re focused on the pleasure. However, the pain in your muscles will most probably be felt the next day, especially if you’ve had a long night. This will last for a couple of days but no one is saying you should stop, right?

Alongside improving your immune system, having sex regularly will most likely get your blood pressure on a good level. This is because experiencing pleasure, especially with a person you have a deep connection with, will relieve your stress and, thus, decrease the possibilities of high blood pressure.

It is important to note that most of the time, sex feels better with a person you are comfortable with or have a deep connection with such as, your significant other. As long as there is consent and all parties are comfortable, sex will always feel good. 

Sex is always a good way to relieve stress or to feel pleasure and, as I mentioned, it always feels better with a significant other. But it’s entirely up to your preference because a lot of people still prefer sex without the commitment. Whichever way you choose to have it, remember that it is always better to be safe and use protection. If you’re going to go at it regularly, make it a habit to always keep a condom on you. Just because your body is used to it, doesn’t mean sexually transmitted infections (STIs) won’t get to you.
